Bel Mills, owner of Scrap Paper Circus, is a book artist, mail artist, and avid upcycler. Upcycling is the transformation of a disposable item into something permanent and beautiful. In Bel's case, she turns salvaged paper into books. Her favorite supplies are envelopes, cardboard boxes, paper sacks and file folders. She loves creating one-of-a-kind, bespoke journals and artist books out of salvaged paper and teaching her students to do the same. Scrap Paper Circus is located in the basement of her home outside Washington DC where she lives with her husband, their sons and beautiful mutt, Dora.
