Everyday paper products like business reply envelopes, cardboard, and printer paper can be fashioned into a wide variety of charming structures with the expert guidance of artist Bel Mills of Scrap Paper Circus. In this class, Bel shows you how to employ upcycled envelopes and book-making techniques to create a unique paper wallet. With pockets, fun vintage mail-inspired decoration, and an eyelet closure, this wallet is both eye-catching and functional.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Four junk business reply envelopes of similar size
- Cutting mat
- Metal ruler
- Pencil and red ball point pen
- Double-sided tape or adhesive runner
- Glue stick
- Craft knife
- Scissors
- Large craft needle
- Awl
- Paper clips or small binder clip
- Waxed linen thread
- Bone folder
- Washi tape
- Elastic cord or rubber band
- Gel medium, preferably semi-gloss or gloss
- Small glue brush
- Cup of water to rinse glue brush
- Metal eyelet and eyelet setter or hole punch and paper hole reinforcers
- Rubber or cling stamps and stamping pigment ink pad
- Various papers and collage images, such as old postage, office labels, magazine and vintage images
- Number stickers or small label stickers
- White cardstock (optional)
- Rectangular stencils (optional)
