Sewing with leather can be intimidating, but in this class, Liana shares the ins and outs of making a classic, swoon-worthy leather tote bag on your home sewing machine. No special skills or fancy tools are needed. Learn tips and tricks for picking a gorgeous piece of leather and sewing with it successfully. At the end of the class, you will have a sturdy, heirloom-worthy bag that you will want to use for years.
Here’s what you’ll need:
  • Medium-weight leather (you will need an 18” x 30” piece of leather plus four straps approximately 1” x 30”)
  • Polyester or nylon thread
  • Cutting mat
  • Transparent quilting ruler
  • Rotary cutter with a fresh blade
  • Tailor’s chalk
  • Small scissors
  • Large scissors
  • Measuring tape
  • Mini or medium binder clips
  • Sewing machine
  • Leather needle for your sewing machine
  • Walking foot for your sewing machine (optional)
  • Leather conditioner

Informative if a little slow. Every home sewing machine can be adjusted for sewing leather.
