Leather designer Elke Bergeron shows you how to dye, paint and embroider super trendy leather cuffs. These eye-catching bracelets are a great way to learn how to work with leather and get familiar with leather working tools. Here’s what you’ll need:
Check Tandy Leather for all leather-working supplies, paints, and dyes
- 8-9oz natural veg tanned leather, at least 8” long
- Strap cutter
- Rotary cutter
- Scissors
- Edge beveler (size 3 to 4 recommended)
- Sponge
- Edge burnisher
- Water
- Strap end punch (or you can use a rotary cutter)
- Leather dyes (Elke uses "Evening Blue" by Eco-Flo in class)
- Wool dauber
- Fabric paint
- Paintbrush
- Paint with acrylic finish for leather by Tandy
- Painter’s tape
- Iron and ironing cloth
- 1/8” Leather punch by Tandy (can be found in the Mini Punch Set)
- XS Leather punch for stitching by Tandy
- Awl
- Brass buttons with recommended post backing (Elke uses Buckleguy buttons in Natural Brass with size 9/32” Back Post)
- Screwdriver
- Plastic hammer
- Poly cutting board
- Waxed poly thread in color of choice
- Thick needle
- Lighter
