Improv Sewing Northampton, MA
Debra Immergut and Nicole Blum are on a mission to convince sewists to get over their fears of messing it up and start having a lot more fun. They believe that making things should be about pursuing joy, not pursuing perfection, and they design projects that fit the lives of people who might have more desire to create than time to do it. This year, they put their philosophy into a book called Improv Sewing: 101 Fast, Fun & Fearless Projects. It's full of beautiful, simple garments and home items, and lots of musings about how to love the creative process every bit as much as the finished product.
Nicole is also an artist, crafter, blogger, teacher, and sewing entrepreneur who sells her sewn creations through her blog, One Golden Apple, and at craft fairs.
Debra is also a visual packager, fiction writer, and a senior editor at FamilyFun magazine. She blogs with Nicole at Improv Diary.
They both live with their families in lovely Western Massachusetts.
