Take your custom front torso sloper from Sanae Ishida’s foundational class and turn it into a beautifully fitted, sleeveless tiered dress. Beloved instructor and pattern maker Sanae guides you through each step, from transforming your sloper into a dress bodice to gathering the skirt, adding pockets, and customizing details like shoulder width and number of tiers. It's a perfect project for practicing precision while embracing creativity and personal style.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Self-drafted torso sloper or woven tank top
- About three yards of woven fabric, such as lightweight linen, linen blends, cotton (with slight stretch works really well)
- Paper for patternmaking such as tracing paper, Swedish tracing paper, or Pelon 830
- Tape
- Fabric shears or rotary cutter and mat
- Erasable or disappearing marking tools
- Rulers and measuring tape
- Pencil
- Small scissors
- Pins and/or clips
- Sewing machine with coordinating thread
- Iron and pressing surface
- Pattern weights
- Seam gauge or small ruler
- Seam ripper
- Pocket template in PDF download
- Seam roller (optional)

I’d like more discussion of the adjustments and why they were done so I know rationale for my own pattern making.
