Great leggings are such a versatile wardrobe staple, but store-bought leggings often don't fit just right. This is why author, illustrator, and maker Sanae Ishida loves to make her own, and in this class she shows you how you can too - it's not as complicated as you may think! Starting with a lower body sloper, which you can learn to make in her foundational class, Sanae teaches you how to make adjustments and draft a pattern, which you'll use to cut and sew your leggings with knit fabric, adding an elastic waistband. Sewing your own clothes is so rewarding, and you'll quickly have a collection of comfortable leggings that fit your unique body.
Here’s what you’ll need:
  • 3/8-inch elastic to fit your preferred waist plus seam allowance
  • Approx. 2 yards stretchy fabric, either a performance knit or a four-way stretch knit jersey
  • Ballpoint machine needle
  • Laerge safety pin or bodkin
  • Sewing machine
  • Coordinating thread
  • Drafting kit including Swedish tracing paper, ruler, pencil, and a tape measure
  • Pins and clips
  • Fabric shears
  • Paper scissors
  • Snips
  • Seam ripper
  • Marking tools
  • Iron and ironing surface
