Join us for a month-long creative journey with artist and illustrator, Lisa Congdon. In this 31-day painting challenge, Lisa shares her love of designing colorful patterns and painting with gouache. Each day you will learn how to paint a new pattern, including traditional designs, botanicals, geometric shapes and motifs made from everyday objects. Challenge yourself to draw inspiration from the world around you, working alongside Lisa as you hone your daily painting practice. Be sure to share your paintings in the student gallery and post them on Instagram #cbpatternaday.

What you'll get:
Here’s what you’ll need:
- 6” x 9” 140lb cold press watercolor paper
- Assorted fine-tip and flat-tip watercolor brushes
- Gouache paints (Lisa uses Acryla gouache; she recommends a combination of red, pink [which you can make by mixing red with white], yellow, yellow ochre, blue, white, a shade of green or two, black, brown and a wine color)
- Watercolor or markers (optional; can use instead of gouache)
- Palette
- Pencil and eraser
- Ruler
- Water
- Paper towels

I am enjoying this class so much! I'm astonished that at my age (78) I have had my consciousness raised about patterns for the first time. Now I see them everywhere. Tissue boxes, pillows, bedspreads, curtains...I'm always thinking "Oh that's like a variation of the basketweave, or houndstooth." Thank you LIsa for opening my eyes!
