What a fun class... perfect for exploring oil paints. The daily exercises were a good mix of easy/difficult assignments that gave me a good foundation for the medium.

I really enjoyed this class and appreciate how approachable it made oil painting - for example, painting on paper instead of having to buy special canvases, reusing your palettes, etc. I took one class years ago in oil painting and it made it feel impossible to do on a daily basis, so Erica's combo of technique, simple subjects, and simple materials is really awesome. I just wish there were more explanation of how to keep brushes clean as I proved to be terrible at this - constantly fighting muddy colors - and that maybe the excellent teacher were not quite so speedy! I would warn folks not to try to keep up with her; just watch the lesson first and have fun!

So fun. And so calming! It's like meditation and painting at the same time. She also has a great eye for bringing out interesting colors in the shadows.

I really enjoyed this class. It helped get me out of a rut and start painting again every day! The instructions are easy to follow and there is lots of variety in the daily painting prompts.
