I really like this course, the concrete tips and ideas. Which can be so small and easy. But Courtney shows how small and easy things can turn in something bigger. Love how she shows loads of books, examples of what other creatives have done, examples of what can grow out of simple beginnings.

For me, what immensely helped was lesson 1, collections. Which was about simply cutting and pasting images in an old ledger or empty scrapbook.

That just pasting images may sometimes be enough is exactly what I needed to hear; My mum died last year, she was a very creative person and loved butterflies. When cleaning up her crafts room, I found lots of butterfly stuff. Photos and illustrations that she kept, postcards, stamps, punches, napkins with butterflies... Kept all that, have been meaning to do something with it. But did not do anything with it, because in my mind it had become this Big and Ambitious Art Project.

So that class gave me permission to just start with pasting her butterfly images into an empty scrapbook. And I noticed there is some creativity that goes into that process; finding a composition, seeing which butterflies go together in color or style. I really enjoy it. Sometimes this low-level creativity turned into something that is slightly more than pasting images; folding some origami butterflies, stamping butterflies with different colors of ink on a piece of paper. Results to be pasted in too of course.

Of course thinking about my mum quite a lot while doing that. She would have loved the butterfly scrapbook. Wished I could show it, give it to her. I suppose it has been part of the healing process after a difficult year.

Absolutely Loved this class! So much resonated with me! I loved learning about all her resources along the way. Will come back to this class again and again.

Oh my goodness. I loved this class so SO much! I have been in a creative funk lately - this is exactly what I needed. I already know what I'm going to start with. I have a large, old ledger that I bought a few years ago at our local swapmeet. It's been lounging in a cupboard in my office/studio all this time because I couldn't decide what to do with it. I'm going to give it new life and create my own alphabet + color study book. Thank you so much, Courtney! You're the best! xoxo

I loved this class, especially all the amazing resources and the wide-range of ideas. But what resonates the most was how honest and gentle Courtney was with herself and her art practice and how she encouraged us to do the same.
