Entrelac Workshop: In-the-Round Entrelac Cowl
Advanced

1 hour 8 min

Taught by Marly Bird
Now that you know how to knit entrelac flat, you’re ready to work it in the round. Marly Bird teaches this circular technique with a vibrant color-changing cowl. You’ll begin by working a tier of triangles, then switch to the rectangles you know so well by now. As you continue building shapes tier-by-tier, the color-changing yarn creates a subtle and painterly effect throughout the cowl. Bonus knitting party trick: In this class, Marly shows you how to knit backwards, so you don't have to turn your work when you do purl rows. How cool is that?
Learn how to:

Entrelac Workshop
Part 1:
Entrelac Workshop: Intro-to-Entrelac Shawl
This cozy shawl is the perfect place to start your entrelac adventure. Working in two colors, Marly demonstrates how to knit a single rectangle, then how to join and build rectangles to create the eye-catching checkerboard pattern. Hone your skills through repetition to create the shawl body, and at the end, add some quick and easy tassels for the finishing touch.

Part 3:
Entrelac Workshop: Shaped Entrelac Hat
Now that you're comfortable knitting entrelac in the round and working in tiers, learn how to shape entrelac to make a graphic hat. This project can be made in many sizes, and by playing with color, you can make your hat bright and bold or subtle and soft. No need to add a pompom to this hat – the shaping creates a beautiful mosaic-like pattern at the top.
