Kata Golda Port Townsend, Washington
Alison Kaplan is the founder and Creative Director of Kata Golda, an independently owned business in Port Townsend, WA that creates hand made items from wool felt and fabrics. Following in the footsteps of her grandmother and mother, Alison has surrounded herself with handwork projects for as long as anyone can remember. Kaplan published Kata Golda's Hand-Stitched Felt: 25 Whimsical Sewing Projects (STC Craft, 2009), Stories for Bedtime: A Keepsake Pocket and Tales to Cherish (Chronicle Books, 2011) and Tooth Fairy Keepsake: Under-The-Pillow Pocket and Memory Book (Chronicle Books, 2011).
When not occupied with stitching and designing the Kata Golda line, Alison busies herself outdoors, drawing inspiration from her garden, the mountains, or the farm where she volunteers. She can also be found in the kitchen, where she and her daughter Odette share a love of cooking.
